New Clients — What to Expect

We're so glad you're here. Here's everything you need to know before your first visit to Van City Veterinary Hospital.

Welcoming a new client at Van City Veterinary Hospital

Your First Visit, Step by Step

We want your first visit to be smooth, stress-free, and informative for both you and your pet.

  1. Book Your Appointment

Use our online form or call us at 604-558-6158. We'll confirm your time by phone within one business day.

  2. Gather Your Pet's Records

If your pet has visited another vet, please bring or send along their vaccination history, medical records, and any current medications. No previous vet? No problem — we'll start fresh.

  3. Arrive at 1691 Kingsway

We're at 1691 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC. Street parking is available. Please arrive a few minutes early so we have time to get your pet settled before the exam.

  4. Meet Our Team

Our technician will greet you, take a brief history, and get your pet comfortable. Then the doctor will perform a thorough examination and answer all your questions.

  5. Leave with a Plan

Before you go, we'll review our findings, recommend next steps, and ensure you have a clear understanding of your pet's health and care plan going forward.

What to Bring

Having these on hand helps us provide the best possible care right from the start.

  • Previous vaccination records and medical history
  • Current medications and dosages
  • A stool sample if possible (for parasite screening)
  • Any food or treats your pet is currently eating
  • Your pet in a carrier (cats) or on a leash (dogs)
  • A list of questions or concerns you'd like to discuss
  • Your health card or ID (for new client registration)
  • Payment — we accept cash, debit, and all major credit cards
